As the year comes to a close, so does the 400th anniversary of the founding of Québec City by Samuel de Champlain in 1608.
I was fortunate enough to visit Québec City in June just as the summer festivities were warming up. While I was only visiting for a weekend, I was there just long enough to soak in some of the energetic vibe. A normally active city went into overdrive as it seemed every major street had something new going on at every hour. A circus in a central square during the afternoon, an orchestral water show (complete with lighting and fireworks) in the evening, and a variety of spectacles on the television throughout the day. A great way to enjoy the city and reflect on the massive impact Québec has had on shaping Canadian history and culture.
I would love to hear from anyone who was able to visit Québec (particularly Québec City) during the year, and if they were able to partake in any of the celebrations.
